- David on the oily shore in Pensacola, 6/23/10
Members of Icky’s Ego are currently traveling along the Gulf cities to document the oil disaster.
The video and stills we capture will be used for our “Citadel” music video, and also be used to draw attention to the situation, heighten awareness, meet our need to see this environmental tragedy with our own eyes.
Standing on the beach in Pensacola is absolutely tragic. We were among the first people to witness crude oil washing up and pooling in the sand.
The local people are devastated and afraid of what long-term consequences this human error is going to have on humans and wildlife all over the globe.
On Wednesday, a dolphin washed up on shore covered in oil. A Pensacola waitress told us the story of how they heard its cries as it lay dying, and couldn’t stop crying herself.
This is only the beginning of what this distaster will bring.
What more needs happen to this planet, for us to wake up and stop living inside of our little bubble we’ve created around ourselves? This world is not ours to use up and destroy.

So far, our trip to Pensacola has been featured onhuffingtonpost, yahoonews, timewarner, and roadrunner among others.

[...] Dave Crocco & Cela Scott recently returned from a trip to the Gulf. They talked to people there and have first hand reports. They’ll talk about why they went and what happened. We’ll also hear a bit of their music. http://www.ickysego.com —See some of the photos they took in the Gulf at http://ickysego.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/truth-action-productions-and-ickys-ego-chronicle-oil-disast… [...]
